It’s a satisfying job, not least when it comes to the moment when an archive makes its debut appearance for a reader
Working as part of the Library team as archivist to the RHS, my job is to collect, document, preserve and provide access to the Lindley Library’s rich archive collections.
These include, on the one hand, the official archive of the RHS, comprising over 200 years’ worth of historical material, and on the other, unique collected archives of individuals and organisations closely related to horticulture and gardening. It’s a satisfying job, not least when it comes to the moment when an archive makes its debut appearance for a reader in the Research Room, as a result of my work. The archives at the Lindley Library are open to all. Come and have a look.
