Rose pruning trainingThis is the perfect way for students to have real experience working in horticulture before they decide to take it up for their career. The voluntary internship gives students the opportunity to work in a prestigious garden while learning gardening skills and techniques. Students work alongside experienced gardeners so they can train while they work. Much can be gained by being observant whilst being taught by our skilled garden staff.

How it works

The internships have now been running for several years and many previous participants are now making their way into horticultural careers, and some are even coming back to the RHS as fully fledged gardeners.

Every year a limited number of unwaged placements are available at RHS Garden Rosemoor, in Devon, for horticultural students seeking short-term (one to three months) work experience to supplement their studies.

The Voluntary Internship Programme at RHS Garden Rosemoor will look to restart in the summer of 2021 and applications will be considered after this date.

Please ensure if you have any preferences for departments you include this on your application.

Please note: the scheme at Wisley is currently under review; however we hope to have this opportunity available again soon.
