Young Landscape Contractor and Planting Design finalists selected for new competition
The first finalists in a new competition that aims to find the best emerging talent in garden landscaping and planting design have been announced.
The contest will be held at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park (20-24 July 2016), which is well known for nurturing young talent.
Working in pairs
Three finalists have been chosen from each respective field and have been challenged to work together in pairs to deliver a garden designed by Tamara Bridge (pictured), the winner of the 2015 RHS Young Designer of the Year competition.
Each garden has a different style and soil type. The countryside garden will be created by Sam Hunt from Gloucestershire and Lizzi Mills from Somerset, while Yorkshire-based Ewan Sewell and Lydia MacKey from Worcester have been tasked with a coastal theme. Matthew Beesley from Cheshire and Katie Maude from Manchester will create a design with an urban feel.
Bid for the title
At the end of the competition, one winning talent from each category will be crowned winner of RHS Young Planting Designer and winner of RHS Young Landscape Contractor, which is supported by the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI), the UK’s largest trade association for landscape professionals.
