The RHS takes the prevention of Modern Slavery seriously and is working towards establishing a zero-tolerance position on Modern Slavery and human trafficking within its supply chain.
This statement covers the activities of the RHS and its group subsidiaries for the financial year ended 31 January 2017.
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is a charity registered in England and Wales and Scotland with numbers 222879/ SCO38262. The objects of the RHS are the encouragement and improvement of the science, art and practice of horticulture in all its branches and its aim is to enrich everyone’s life through plants, and make the UK a greener and more beautiful place.
The RHS carries out trading through its wholly owned subsidiaries; RHS Enterprises Limited (a private limited company registered in England and Wales with number 01211648) and RHS Special Events Limited (a private limited company registered in England and Wales with number 03119017). Both subsidiaries gift aid all profits to the RHS for the delivery of its charitable objects.
The RHS is committed to acting properly in all activities and has a number of policies and processes in place which will form the basis of further work to seek to reduce the risk of modern slavery in the Society’s supply chains:
Our key suppliers are businesses which supply goods or services to our offices, Gardens, Shows and retail outlets, such as catering and cleaning contractors, security providers, stewards, wholesale plant suppliers and growers and producers of licensed products. The RHS ensures that written contracts are in place with all suppliers and is working to ensure that such contracts support our compliance with the Modern Slavery Act.
During the year, the Society has been considering its processes to do everything we can to reduce the risk of Modern Slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and will conduct a review into potential areas of risk in the coming year. The RHS is committed to ensuring that respect for human rights is reflected across the Society.
This Statement has been made under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and has been approved by the RHS Council.
